OstLicht Camera Auction — Shanghai

OstLicht will hold its first auction in China at the new Fotografiska Museum in Shanghai. The auction is a selection of 256 lots, including many Leica rarities and an exquisite collection of photographs.

The recently opened Fotografiska Museum is considered China’s leading institution for photography and will host both the preview and the auction.

Dive into this treasure trove of cameras. Highlights include:

  • One of the first Leica’s from 1925 with Anastigmat lens (estimated price: 50,000–70,000 euros).
  • The famous “New York Rifle,” an extremely rare Leica “rifle camera” developed in the late 1930s for nature photography with telephoto lenses (estimated price: 280,000–380,000 euros).
  • The Leica M3 No. 700008 is the eighth Leica M camera in mint original condition, produced in 1953 (estimated price: 190,000–280,000 euros).

The auction goes live on Saturday, November 16.

Leica Q2 Reporter

This gorgeous Q2 Reporter sports a hyper-minimalist drab green and kevlar black. Carefully crafted to meet the challenges of reportage and press photography, the Leica Q2 Reporter is known for its enhanced design and deliberately discreet appearance. The red Leica dot on the front and the engraving on the top plate are inconspicuously omitted, letting you move without drawing undue attention to yourself. This example includes the original box.

"Marina Bay Sands” Leica Limited Edition M-P

This is your chance to own 1 of 18 Leica M (typ 240) Marina Bay Sands. This model was released in 2016 to commemorate the opening of the Leica boutique in the Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore. It sports a gorgeous silver monotone finish, with the three structures of the hotel etched on the top plate. It has a matching 35mm Summilux lens engraved with the Lion’s head marque of the hotel. The Typ 240 makes for an excellent digital rangefinder, though this model being no. 18 of 18 makes us think it may not be a daily. Unless you’re very brave.

Leica M Edition "Leica 60"

This week, we have the first of two typ 240 limited editions (the M-P has some seriously good editions), though this one departs a bit from the typical M-P chassis. The Leica 60 was released to celebrate 60 years of the M, and only 600 exist.

This shares a bit of design language with the Apple Leica edition. The overall system retains many of the functional aspects of the interface that were removed in Jony Ive’s vision, such as the shutter selector being flush with the front edge of the camera, making it easier to use when composing a shot through the viewfinder. The removal of the rear display makes this much more timeless as well.

Leica M-6 Titanium

We’re big fans of the titanium colorway for the M6, and it pairs nicely with the black ostrich wrap. This auction includes some of the original paperwork and box, and the seller claims that it is unused. Save a few hundred for the CLA and enjoy a reliable non-TTL meter.

Leica M-6 "Year of the Rooster" Set

This M6 collectable is one of 268 produced. Celebrating the Year of the Rooster, it has a golden rooster engraved on top, along with Chinese characters inscribed in red that read " Leica-Good Luck." This set is in near perfect condition and comes with the 50mm f2.0 Summicron lens, lens case, caps, hood, manual, retail display packaging.
