Market trends and Leica sales from the past week

Market Digest: January 17, 2025

Market Overview

Over the past few weeks, we analyzed nearly 200 Leica camera sales across some of the most popular reseller platforms (eBay, Fred Miranda, r/photomarket, and Facebook Marketplace.) If you missed those posts, don’t worry; we got you.

This week, we’re back at it. We checked out 51 Leica camera sales on eBay, Fred Miranda and r/photomarket.

Let's get into it.

Digital M Series

M11 Series: The market has found its equilibrium, with prices stabilizing in the $6,000-7,000 range. This represents a slight cooling from the volatile $5,300-8,500 range we saw in late December. Well-maintained bodies with complete packaging are commanding around $6,000, showing that a 15% premium for original boxes remains true.

M10 Series:

  • Standard M10 bodies are holding steady at $3,900-4,000
  • M10 Monochrom variants maintain their premium position at $5,200-5,700
  • Note: Monday listings continue to offer 8-12% better values, with recent examples selling for $3,600-3,800

Q Series

Q3:

  • Current sweet spot: $5,100-5,250 for excellent condition examples
  • Premium packages with additional accessories commanding up to $7,000
  • Notable stabilization compared to December's wider price spread

Q2:

  • Standard models: $3,000-3,300
  • Monochrom variants: $3,700-4,500
  • Monday morning listings also showing consistent 10% discounts

Film M Series

M6 Variants:

  • 2022 Reissue holding strong at $4,000-4,100 with warranty
  • Vintage models: $2,800-3,200 for standard variants
  • Premium 0.85x viewfinder models commanding 40% premium, consistent with last week's trend

Classic Bodies:

  • M3: $1,400-3,500 range, condition-dependent
  • M2: Stable at $1,750-2,200
  • MP Black Paint editions holding value at $4,000
  1. Box Premium Expansion: Even damaged original packaging adding 5-8% to values
  2. Viewfinder Premium: 0.85x viewfinder models maintaining significant premium across both digital and film bodies
  3. Platform Shift: Increasing activity on Fred Miranda, particularly for higher-end digital M bodies
  4. Accessory Bundling: Packages with premium accessories (thumb grips, cases) showing stronger performance than body-only sales

With the release of the SL3-S yesterday, we’ll be keeping a close eye on the SL2 market. While you’re waiting for that and for some of Monday’s listings to drop, here are some of this morning’s finds.

Leica Q3 with 28/1.7 Summilux in Mint Condition

This Q3 was posted last week so TDB if it’s still available, but in mint condition and in the sweet spot of recent sales, it’s still worth a feature. Tim Lei has a deep inventory of Leica cameras and lenses and a stellar reputation. If this one isn’t for you, check out some of his other inventory.
