Over the past couple of weeks, we analyzed 143 Leica camera sales across some of the most popular reseller platforms (eBay, Fred Miranda, r/photomarket, and Facebook Marketplace.) If you missed those posts, don’t worry; we got you.

This week, we’re back at it. We examined 49 Leica camera sales on eBay and Fred Miranda.

Let's dive into what's happening on the market and, more importantly, what it means for you.

Digital M Series

The digital M lineup continues to command premium prices, but we're seeing some interesting stratification.

M11 Series:

  • Current pricing: $7,000-7,250
  • Three-week trend: $5,300-8,500 → $5,690-6,600 → $7,000-7,250
  • Sweet spot: $7,000 for excellent condition units

M10 Series:

  • Standard M10 with full kit: $3,900
  • M10-P Reporter: $8,500 (special edition premium)
  • M10 Monochrom: $5,200-5,775

Q Series

The Q series is showing remarkable market maturity.

Q3:

  • Price range: $5,100-7,384
  • Sweet spot: $5,250 (like-new examples)
  • Premium packages: ~$7,000
  • Market stability improving since December

Q2:

  • Standard models: $3,050-3,300
  • Monochrom variants: $3,700-4,560
  • Value add: Thumb grips/accessories ($200-300)

Original Q:

  • Standard range: $2,000-2,200
  • Q-P premium version: $2,780
  • Value packages: $2,200 (with extras)

Film M Series

The analog market is picking up in the new year.

M6 Variants:

  • 2022 Reissue: Holding steady at $4,100 (with warranty)
  • Premium variant: 0.85 TTL Black + 50mm Summilux commanding $6,174
  • Standard models: $2,800-3,200

Classic Bodies:

  • MP Black Paint: $4,000
  • M3: $700-3,500 (condition-dependent)
  • M2: $1,750-2,200
  • Value Alert: Strong opportunities in unserviced examples

SL System

The SL system is showing interesting segmentation.

SL Series:

  • SL2-S Reporter: Premium at $4,199
  • Standard SL2: Stabilizing around $2,100-2,250
  • Original SL: Finding its floor around $1,350-1,375
  1. The "Box Gap" Phenomenon

    • Three weeks ago: +10% for original packaging

    • Current premium: 15-20% for complete sets

    • Even damaged boxes: 5-8% value boost

    • Example: M10 with box ($3,900) vs. without ($3,350)

  2. The Monday Morning Advantage

    • 8-12% lower prices on Monday morning listings

    • Most noticeable: Q series cameras

    • Sweet spot: $2,000-4,000 range

    • Example: Recent Q2 Monday sale at $3,050 vs. weekend average $3,300

  3. Viewfinder Premium Explosion

    • 0.85x viewfinder commanding 40% premium over 0.72

    • Trend visible across film and digital bodies

    • Most pronounced in M6 market

    • Example: M6 0.85 TTL reaching $6,174 vs. standard $3,200
