Hidden Market Trends
1. The "Box Gap" Phenomenon
Our analysis reveals a 20% premium for cameras sold with their original packaging. Even damaged boxes are adding 8-10% to final sale prices. This gap is particularly noticeable with the M10 series, where complete kits with boxes are selling for around $4,200 compared to body-only options without packaging at approximately $3,500. If you're selling, don't discard that box—it's worth more than you might think.
2. The Monday Morning Advantage
Monday listings continue to offer significant value, with prices averaging 18% lower than other days of the week. This pattern is most pronounced in the $2,000-4,000 range, particularly with M10 and Q series cameras. A recent example highlights this trend: an M6 sold on a Monday for just $2,099, while comparable weekend sales averaged $2,600. If you're hunting for deals, set your alarm for Monday morning.
3. Classic Film Bodies Heating Up
We're seeing renewed interest in classic film bodies, with M3 prices climbing 8% since December. M4-P models are showing particularly consistent demand, settling around the $2,200 mark regardless of minor cosmetic variations. The best value opportunity currently lies in unserviced examples that could benefit from a CLA service—these can often be acquired at a discount and restored to excellent working condition.
While you're waiting for Monday's listings, here are some of this week's finds:
